An Electrician is the person you would contact to help you with all your electrics and electrical wiring needs. If you need to test, fit or repair your electrical wiring or circuitry then you will need the help of a qualified electrician. The electrical systems you have in your home or office are very important, delicate and potentially dangerous, so you need a professional electrician who is highly qualified and experienced to undertake any of the electrical works you need doing. As with any tradesperson it is good to make a shortlist of potential electricians, based on word of mouth recommendations from friends, family and work coleagues. This information will help you collate your shortlist, from which you can then go and speak directly to your potential electrician to discuss their qualifications and acreditations. Look out for the following certifications from highly respected and reputable certificating organisations, such as NICEIC, NVQ Level 3 from City and Guilds or Part P. Even with these qualifications in place, you must discuss with the electrician what they can and cannot do, a reputable electrician knows the importance of the work they do, and how important safety is, and they will tell you openly and frankly about what electrical jobs they feel they can and cannot undertake. You should also ask about any recommendations and testimonials they can supply, and if it is possible to see examples of their work. Most good, reliable and conscientious electricians will be only to happy to give you this peace of mind. Electricians carry out many different tasks for you, from a complete rewiring of your home or office, to smaller jobs such as installation of fuse boxes, circuit breakers, new light fittings and plug sockets. Do not feel that a job is too small: if you are not confident then get a qualified electrician in to do the job: not only is it safer, it will also be quicker and all you have to do is enjoy your new eectrical system - whether it be additional protected circuits for your computing, hi-fi, or audio visual systems. Also, a respected and qualified electrician will be more than happy to give you any advice that you may need - so ask as many questions as you feel you need to. This advice will usually be given free of charge by a reputable tradesperson or company, and will enable you to accurately identify what electrical works you need doing, and thereby identify the right team for the job. A complete rewiring of your home, or office, is in these days of increased technology and complicated wiring systems and needs, an increasingly common job for many electricians. Even a house that had a full electrical installation a few years ago can benefit from a rewiring to bring it up to current standards and to be able to safely meet the increased demands modern lifestyles and technology impose upon our domestic and industrial electrical circuits. A rewiring now can see your electrics 'future proffed' for the next evolution of tecnology. By decreasing the load on individual parts of a system by providing new dedicated electrical spurs, additional sockets, and so on this can increase both the safety of your electrical systems and their convenience. A dedicated spur, surge protected, for your audio-visual home cinema system will protect your delicate and expensive equipment, increase the safety by preventing the overloading of a socket with too many plugs, and increase the clarity of the electrical system entering the equipment which can often have a significant beneficial effect on the quality of sound and picture reproduction. A rewiring project will also normally involve the installation of a new consumer unit, fusebox, and circuit breakers. All of which will increase the safety, convenience, usability and lifespan of your electrics. You never know when an emergency will occur so it is a good idea to have the telephone number of a reliable emergency electrician in your mobile phone or adress book; tat way, when an emergency strikes in the middle of the night you can easilly and instantly have the help and assistance you require. A qualified electrician will also be needed if you want to install an air-conditioning system in your home in office, or even for underfloor heating, both of which can add value to your home, increase the level of comfort, and save you money by more efficient heating and cooling. When you want to install remote control lighting for when you arrive home at night, or an electric gate or garage door, or even when you do a 'ground force' and instal ponds, spas, saunas, and outside lighting systems, then an electrician will do this quickly safely and easilly: all you have to do is enjoy the fruits of their labours as you sip a glass of wine on your mood-lit decking of a summer evening. |
