Driving Lessons Print E-mail
Everybody who wants to learn how to drive needs to have driving lessons given by skilled, professional, and esperience instructors.   There are nationally known Driving Schools, but most of us learn to drive by taking lessons with a local, independent Driving Instructor, fully approved and accredited by the Driving Standards Agency.   These highly skilled driving professionals allow parents to feel safe and secure in the knowledge that their children, in receipt of their Provisional Driving License, are in the company of friendly and professional instructors who will teach them all about good driving practice and road safety.   A well trained driver is a courteous driver.

Your chosen driving instructor, whether self-employed or working for a larger organisation, will pick-up and deliver their students from home, school, workplace or any other pre-arranged location.   There is no need for parents, or friends, to take the student to the driving school.   Driving lessons are the only way to learn how to drive safely, courteously, and defensively from the start.   Howeve, driving lessons are not just for those who are learning to drive; adults, especially older adults who have been driving for a while, can also benefit from a 'refresher' course in good driving standards and practice, to help them continue to drive safely, carefully and considerately.

Your driving instructor will instil confidence and offer a comprehensive and well thought out program of lessons, gradiated so that you continuously refresh what you have already learnt whilst also adding to and improving your driving skills to make you into a safe and defensive driver.

A driving instructor will offer various options for your schedule of lessons.   This could be a regular once or twice a week series of lessons, or a fully intensive course designed to help those who need a license quickly.   Driving lessons are also flexible, so, for eample, as you approach the date of your driving test, you may find that you want to have a few more lessons, more regularly, to hone your driving skills.   As with anything, try to establish a convenient and manageable schedule; do not skip a lesson, the regular and appointed schedule allows your to learn, practice, and digest.   It is worth taking the time over your lessons as these skills will be with your for the rest of your life.

When your child reaches the age of 17, parents will want to find a reliable and respected driving school or private driving instructor to provide your child with a sound grounding in driving practice, and detailed lessons in driving theory.   Both practical driving skills and knowing the thory behind driving practices, and the rules and regulations of the Highway Code, are what your child needs to pass the practical driving test and the theory test that are needed to qualify for a full driving license.

It is not just teenagers who require driving lessons; adults can also find that they need to drive - perhaps beacuse of a new job, relocation to a new area, or just the feeling of having more freedom, and some driving schools and instructors offer specialised and dedicated driving lessons for you.   These friendly and fun lessons will help you learn, whether teenager or adult, how to drive safely and carefully.

Driving lessons are safe, comprehensive and offer good value for money.   A very important part of attaining your full driving license is the theory test, which introduces you to situations, information, and practices that you will not necesarially meet during the course of your lessons.    The theory test is in two parts.   Part 1 consists of 50 multiple choice questions and you have 57 minutes to answer them.  To pass this part of the test you eed a score of 43 out of 50.   The second part of the test is about Hazard Perception; you will see 14 video clips of driving situations and in each a hazard is developing (in one clip there will be 2), to pass you need to respond safely and quickly to te developing hazards you see.   You need a score of 44 out of 75 to pass the harard recognition test.    To pass the theory test, you must pass both the multiple choice and the hazard recognition tests, otherwise you will need to retake the test completely.   A qualified and well trained driving instructor, providing good driving lessons will be your key to passing your driving test and acheiving your full driving license.

Your driving lessons will be fun and enjoyable, as well as helping you become a good and safe driver.   It is worth paying for driving lesssons, thery are not expensive, and offer you the best training for becoming a good and defensive driver now and in the future.   You can also always take a refresher course even if you already hold a full driving certification, a great idea to stay safe on our busy roads.

Driving schools will offer male and femal instructors, so choose one you feel comfortable with.   The more comfortable you feel with your instructor, the better you will learn how to drive well.

All cars used will have dual controls, so the instructor can take over in the event of an emergency, thus keeping driving student, instructor and fellow road users safe.   Cars will be new, and maintained to the highest standards of safety and road worthiness.

A professional driving instructor will guarantee that the student - teenager or adult with provisional license, or existing driver - learns defensive driving skills, common sense and courteous driving habits from the first lesson onwards.   These safe, sensible and courteous driving habits will be with you for life, so make the  most of your local driving instructor or school when having a refresher course or your driving lessons.
