Hatfield modern town in Hertfordshire Print E-mail

Hatfield is a modern town, located on either side of the A1 motorway only a short distance away from the M25 motorway.

Today Hatfield is a modern day town, but yet has kept the  village feel of Old Hatfield. Old Hatfield, well known beyond its boarders for the magnificent Hatfield House, built by Robert Cecil in 1611. You can visit the house which is now a museum and there is a great collection of art on show, such as furniture, paintings etc.

Hatfields life started as a coaching town in the Saxon times. The town developed after the railway's arrival in 1850 and in the 1930s, the growth of the town continued with the arrival of the aviation technology

 The town can look back and be proud to have been part in producing outstanding aircraft which are still famous today and have found their way into the History books. The Trident, the Comet and the Mosquito and the famous World War II plane all have been built in Hatfield Hertfordshire

Hatfield has a University and excellent shopping facilities. The Galleria Shopping Centre as well as the Hatfield Retail Park attracts  visitors not just from Hatfield.
